CHARLOTTE RUSH CONTINUE TO LEAD THE WAY IN TERMS OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT & ADVANCEMENT

CHARLOTTE, NC: Coming off a third consecutive trip to the USPHL National Championship the Charlotte Rush have continued their trend of player development and advancement.  Established four seasons ago the Charlotte Rush have quickly established themselves as one of the top Tier III junior programs in the country.  Built upon as a program that will develop high end hockey players and put player advancement at the forefront, a quick look at an alumni update will prove their method is working.

Tyler Barrow who spent the last two seasons with the Charlotte Rush was just named NCAA DIII Rookie of the Year.  Barrow who landed in Charlotte out of Tier 1 midget hockey became a leader on and off the ice with the Rush.  After winning a Championship with the Rush he made the decision to return for his last year of juniors in order to best prepare him for college hockey.  “Making the decision to play out my junior hockey in Charlotte was very easy.  The day to day routine in which you go through made me such a better hockey player.  Each day is filled with video, practice, off ice, individual skill sessions and the attention to detail the staff gives each player is amazing.” -Tyler Barrow. The model in Charlotte certainly paid off for Tyler as he just took home one of college hockey’s greatest honors as Rookie of the Year at the NCAA DIII level.  NCAA DIII hockey is filled with players from all different leagues including NCAA DI transfers, NAHL, NCDC, BCHL and many other considered higher then the USPHL Premier level.  This years Rookie of the Year came straight from the Charlotte Rush, further proving the model in Charlotte prepares players for the next level.

As you look at what the Charlotte Rush Premier roster could have been this season it shows that player advancement comes at the forefront of what the program is about.  The Charlotte Rush lost 8 signed players late this summer.  Six players that are currently playing in the NAHL as well as two players that decided to take the NCAA DIII opportunity, they earned a year early.  Sam Best, Kyle Moore, Blake Bennett, Nick Godfrey, Anthony Yurkins and Brendan McCormack all developed into impactful NAHL players.  Bailey Conklin and Connor Tuttle each established themselves as great NCAA Division III players at twenty years old.  The proof of player advancement and development is glaring as these players stepped right out of a Rush uniform and onto their respective teams.  No gaps, no other stops, just directly from a program that truly puts their efforts into their players and their future.

How much can you benefit from investing into a program based on development?  Ask Sam Best and Blake Bennett who have now earned NCAA D-I scholarships.  Last season Sam Best was the starting goaltender in Charlotte, last week he won an Atlantic Hockey Championship with AIC and will be heading to the NCAA D-1 Tournament.  “My time in Charlotte was like none other I have ever experienced.  The coaching staff puts so much time and effort into making sure the players are taken care of.  Charlotte prepared me to be a division one athlete both on and off the ice and I will forever be thankful that I played there.  It takes a special player to be a member of the Charlotte Rush, something every player should hope they get the opportunity to be.” Sam Best (AIC)

As the Charlotte Rush prepare for their fifth season at Extreme Ice Center one can imagine a look at their alumni list will have families putting Charlotte as a top destination this upcoming season.  For more information visit www.charlotterushhockey.com
